Dental Bridges

A bridge, or fixed partial denture, is a fixed dental restoration that fills the gap where a tooth or multiple teeth are absent.  It attaches an artificial tooth to the adjacent natural teeth or dental implants, utilizing crowns on those abutments to secure it.

Bridges are generally made of gold, porcelain-fused-to-gold, or porcelain.

Completing a bridge requires at least two visits to our office.  Initially we will shape the adjacent teeth and make an impression of the prepared teeth.  A temporary bridge is fabricated and temporarily cemented until the permanent bridge is ready.

At the subsequent visit the temporary bridge is removed and the permanent bridge is fit and adjusted.  The bridge is then cemented in place.

Key Benefits of Fixed Bridges

  • Restore chewing surface
  • Maintain bite and tooth position
